– Josephine, entering the maze online – A NEW THESAURÓS –

Dear friends of the rising sun!

several things must be announced:

Texts, views, and in-depth material on Michal Martychowiec's current exhibition Josephine, entering the maze are now available online. On the Bublitz Objects platform, you will also find detailed information on each of the works on display.

Josephine, entering the maze was also extended until December 12th. If, despite the turbulent times, you find the opportunity and the muse, come by for a chat, tea, and the unmediated experience!

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we ask you to register briefly before visiting: moderation@bublitz.org

A - despite everything! - wonderful and somewhat dramatic year of exhibitions and events is coming to an end.

In February of this year, the first Bublitz Thesaurós opened at Uhlandstrasse 147 in Berlin with the exhibition Tempel auf Zeit [Temporary Temples]. The host was the Chinese tea house Jian; and we and our guests fell in love with the never-before-seen atmosphere of Far Eastern awareness and contemporary art.

Now, after 9 years of nomadism and much hospitality enjoyed, we are looking for a permanent place for the new Thesaurós. From April / May next year, the exhibition and event activities are to be continued there.

A new Thesaurós

The subject of the new Thesaurós naturally remains the old one. I find an ideal image of this culture and the cultivated in the term of the 'common ERANOS'. An act of the Greek tradition of bringing gifts to one another. These in turn form the basis for a common feast, the ERANOS.

So, we are looking for a pleasant room in Berlin that is easy to reach. This will be used for exhibitions, as an office and for salon activities. The space should be 100 m² or more and ideally barrier-free. It could be a shop on ground level, a coach house, an old industrial building, or an apartment.

If you know something or have something available yourself, please send a message to: jmh.schindele@bublitz.org

I look forward to your ideas and wish you peaceful days,

Yours,
Julian M. H. Schindele

MICHAL MARTYCHOWIEC – EMPIRE LAUNCH 3rd OF NOVEMBER

Dear Readers,

Tomorrow, 3 November, a performance by the ever-popular rabbit Josephine Beuys will be launched - as a satellite of the current exhibition Josephine, entering the maze in Berlin. This work of art will be simply called Empire and lasts from 8:15 CET until the end of the internet.

Martychowiec gives the following statement:

"In this video citing the famous underground experimental film by Andy Warhol (Camera Jonas Mekas), Martychowiec constructs a perpeutal political statement combining a historical quotation and his own visual and symbolic language.

The question of freedom remains paramount, perhaps more than ever, in the contemporary landscape. The simple, just over 8 hours long film Empire is drawing a metaphor on freedom, power structures and their nature."

"One could say attachments to land, to home, dwell deeply in all of us who inherited these attitudes from the early settled farming societies. Settled (immovable) life offers security – through an unchanging place, routine, foreseeable source of food, etc. Exploration and the unknown with their potential promises are replaced with security of basic needs fulfilled. Thus the ‘cage’ on one had could be understood as a frame imposing various existential, ethical, systemic frameworks and on the other hand, offering protection and sense of security."

"What does it all, however, mean to the modern contemporary man? More, because the mean of control has become so sophisticated, so that those subjected to it, perhaps, lack even the basic awareness of being part of that system. Is Josephine ‘aware’ of being caged at all? Does the guaranteed supply of daily necessities suffice to prevent any need of venturing out of the ‘comfort zone’?"

Opening: Josephine, entering the maze // Elshan Ghasimi in der Bundeskunsthalle

Dear friends and comrades,

It gives me great pleasure today to invite you to three events. On this Thursday and Saturday, the Tar virtuoso Elshan Ghasimi will perform at the two final concerts of #bebeethoven at the Neckarforum in Esslingen and at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.

On Saturday 24th October from 6 pm, Michal Martychowiec will open the exhibition Josephine, entering the Maze. This act can both be seen as the opening of an art exhibition, as well as a temporary shrine for Josephine, the main protagonist of his art of recent years.

You're welcome to come and join us.

Since 2015, the rabbit Josephine has been an actor, protagonist, and lighting figure in the cosmogonic work of Michal Martychowiecs.

The multi-year project #bebeethoven builds on these characteristics and positions of the historical figure of Beethoven. In the spirit of Beethoven, twelve fellows explore key areas of activity in music creation artistically and experimentally: composition, concert design, interpretation, music & technology, performance and global classical music culture.

Here you can buy tickets for the concert on Thursday 15.10.2020 at 20:00 in the Neckar Forum Esslingen.

– Nachricht vom letzten Menschen online –

Dear friends,

a chapter of the current exhibition cycle Mythopoesis closes again (last day of exhibition is October 10th). For all visitors who could not be there in person, we have uploaded images and all texts of the exhibition.

Bublitz Objects has also been updated. Here you can find all works of art from Nachricht vom letzten Menschen [Message from the last man] by Michal Martychowiec that are still available. Please note that some of these works are for sale for well below 1.000€.

Now we are looking forward to the upcoming exhibition Josephine, entering the maze. Once more, the fabulous Michal Martychowiec takes us into his cosmos. After the encounter with the panda and Saint Thomas, we are about to meet the rabbit Josephine, already legendary during her lifetime. Another element of his new mythology in romantic tradition.

The opening will take place on 24 October 2020 from 6 pm at the Bublitz. Thesaurós. Uhlandstraße.

With kind regards,
Julian M. H. Schindele
