Invitation to the virtual Good Friday Concert
by Elshan Ghasimi

10th April 2020 at 7 pm in your living room

Dear culture enthusiasts,

Outdoors, forsythia and magnolias are in bloom, birds are twittering and collecting branches for nest-building.

Indoors are individuals, longing for company. Contact is only possible from a distance. Challenging times for us all!

The children of men are all brothers and sisters
Of one material like a body’s limbs
Should disease affect a single limb
Others are left with neither peace nor rest.

This verse comes from the famous Persian poet Saadi (1210-1291 A.D.), and has inspired the musician and composer Elshan Ghasimi to express her solidarity at this particular time. She invites you - virtually, of course - to a half-hour concert on Good Friday, 10th April 2020 at 7 pm. This performance will take place at the exhibition Tempel auf Zeit in Thesaurós. Uhlandstraße.

Sit back and be touched by Ghasimi's interpretations of Persian classical music.

You can, however, listen to Elshan Ghasimi’s masterful playing of her chosen instrument, the tar, beforehand. Inspired by se-lected personal objects, she musically interpreted the biog-raphy of the mathematician and mystic El Arbi Bouqdib in her concert, Ein Garten singender Dinge. A recording of this 2018 concert at the Bremen church “Friedensgemeinde” can be heard by clicking on the photo below.
