A few days ago, Bublitz reached its fifteenth year as a platform. Today, for the first time, I invite you to a genuinely different role: as a solo artist, carried and supported by a collective of people and lovers. The exhibition CHEATS AND GODS opens on March 6 and presents works in stone and iron from the past two years.

For this exhibition—or more precisely, for one paradigmatic CHEAT—Lukas Töpfer has written an essay. An excerpt from the text IDDQD (God Mode) marks the point of departure...
“What Julian Schindele engraved into a limestone in 2025 is not a name, but a seemingly cryptic combination of letters. ‘IDDQD’ is written there, in this beautiful, inconspicuous natural stone, as if we were being given a riddle, a code that has yet to be deciphered. The five difficult-to-understand letters are further emphasised by a deep black, which fills them and absorbs the light, trapping a higher power. They appear noble and meaningful, yet also somber, ultra-black, as mysterious as an acronym from a no longer spoken, ‘dead’ language. They bring to mind inscriptions such as ‘Et in Arcadia ego’, recalling fragments, ruins, and the remains of antiquity. They seem to have fallen out of the world: a world that no longer exists, yet refuses to disappear completely, to dissolve entirely into the present.”
