Hilarion Manero was born in Argentina in 1957. After fleeing the fascist regime at age 17 he traveled to world, settling in Berlin in 1995. At the beginning of the oughts he isolated himself about ten years in his apartment, in order to work and paint in dialog with old masters.
Manero engaged himself in a multitude of styles and techniques. He eclectically united wide-ranging mythologies and iconologies – Greek, Nordic and Christian – which he consistently re-combined in his memory. In this way Manero developed new, subjective myths and exceptional imagery that distinguishes itself particularly through his use of color.
